You are invited by the West Somerset Railway Heritage Trust to come and enjoy a delicious cream tea while watching the steam trains pass by during our Spring Steam Spectacular. Open on Fri, 28 April and Sat, 29th April, and if popular on Sun, 30th April.
The West Somerset Railway Heritage Trust, a Registered Charity No. 265564, is delighted to announce that it is running a community tea garden for all visitors and local villagers in the Victorian Garden adjacent to the Station Master’s House close to Platform 1 of Bishops Lydeard Station. The tea garden will be open during Friday, 28 and Saturday, 29 April (*Sunday, 30 April may be added to these dates subject to demand).
There will be plenty of outside seating where you can soak up the atmosphere, and it should be the perfect place to relax and watch the frequent trains passing by as we run an intensive steam service on these days.
As well as our scrumptious cream teas, we plan to offer biscuits along with hot and cold drinks, with all proceeds going to support the railway.
Parking will be available in the main railway car park, but since it will be busy, we encourage local villagers to walk to the station, cross over the railway bridge and come directly down the stairs to Platform 1. We hope to offer some limited disabled parking in the staff car park next to Station Green, to provide a level access.
Dogs are also welcome. Please note: the tea garden may close if the weather is inclement, as there is only limited undercover space available.
