Support Railway museums
The Heritage Trust operates two museums, the Gauge Museum at Bishops Lydeard Station, and the other, the Blue Anchor Railway Museum based at Blue Anchor Station. Both depend on visitors’ donations and fundraising support.
Gauge Junction
Model Railway
Donations support the upkeep of the 00 gauge model railway. The layout was started thirty years ago and is continually being developed. We are a small team, mainly of Tracker volunteers (aged 14 – 18) and welcome all donations.
GWR Sleeping Car
The Trust acquired former GWR sleeping car no 9038 in 1986 and, after twenty years of work, returned it to traffic in 2006. The work was largely funded by visitor donations and members’ contributions supported by a grant from the Science Museum. The vehicle requires ongoing maintenance, and your support funds this.
Heritage Carriages Project
The Trust has started an ambitious project to restore a rake of vintage GWR coaches to traffic on the WSR. The youngest of these coaches in now a hundred years old and significant fundraising is now required to undertake this work.

- Members are entitled to attend and vote at general meetings of the Trust
- Members are entitled to discounted travel on regular WSR trains on production of current WSRHT membership card
- Members will receive a personal copy of the Trust’s newsletter, sent by email or post as you prefer
- If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can apply to reclaim additional tax relief on your donations
- The Trust is able to reclaim income tax currently equivalent to 25% of your donation
