The Wild Escape Learning Project
This spring and summer, the West Somerset Railway will be part of the Wild Escape, a major creative project taking place in museums and schools across the country this year. The Project aims to encourage young people to join in the conversation about biodiversity by inviting them to creatively respond to art and nature and to be inspired by the wildlife found in museum and gallery collections.
Our aim is to explore and celebrate the huge variety of habitats along our line, collaborating with local schools, community groups and families to develop several large-scale collaborative works of art to be displayed in our museums throughout the summer.
If you would like to find out more about the Wild Escape, or take part in some of our activities, please contact our Education and Learning Officer at: helen.anson@wsrht.co.uk.
Join us in the Gauge Museum Museum Bishops Lydeard for a family craft workshop, helping us to create artwork to represent the different wild habitats along the length of our line.
Find out more about the role of the West Somerset Railway as a ‘Green Corridor’ and learn about the different plants and creatures that make their home with us. Have a go at painting a rock or wood slice, or create a comic book story to form part of a series of large-scale pieces of art to be displayed here throughout the summer season.
