Welcome to the West Somerset Railway Heritage Trust, a charity dedicated to safeguarding the rich railway heritage of the West Somerset Railway.
Since 1972, the Trust has played a vital role in conserving and interpreting the history of rail travel in the West Country, ensuring future generations can experience and appreciate its significance. Our headquarters at Bishops Lydeard Station is home to the Gauge Museum, where visitors can explore an impressive collection of artefacts, exhibits, and rolling stock that bring the golden age of steam to life. Following a major refurbishment in 2020, the museum offers an enhanced and immersive visitor experience.
The Trust is also working to restore the Gauge Museum at Blue Anchor, an ambitious project that will breathe new life into this historic site. With significant refurbishment already undertaken, we look forward to reopening it to the public in the near future.

Education
Education is a key part of the Trust's activities. We have an in-house Trustee and Learning Officer, Helen Anson, who supports schools, and educational providers on Railway-themed curriculum. There is lots of links to our learning offer on our dedicated Learning page.
Location within West Somerset
The Trust's is mainly based at the Gauge Museum Bishops Lydeard on Platform One of Bishops Lydeard Station, nr. Taunton. Our Gauge Museum Blue Anchor is located on Platform Two at Blue Anchor Station.
WSRHT Trustees, Volunteers and Members
The West Somerset Railway Heritage Trust is governed by voluntary directors who run the Trust as a not-for-profit charity. Many volunteers, young and elder, live locally or far, devote thier time to support the Trust fufill its core visions. We are continuously grateful for the support our Members and other stakeholders give to the Trust.
